Language Arts Teacher
Michael Duffer recently moved to the Portland area from New York City. He has spent the last three years teaching Liberal Arts to all grade levels in a high school in Jamaica Queens in New York. He holds a Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's in English Education from Hunter College in New York.
His curriculum has stressed a performance-based approach to assessment as an alternative to high-stakes testing. He believes a relevant and rigorous curriculum based in questioning and discussion between teachers and students and among students themselves is the best approach to preparing students for post-secondary education.
In addition to teaching, he enjoys music, movies, cycling, and reading literature and philosophy.
