Mt. Scott names Fisher Scholarship recipients

Mt. Scott Learning Center (MSLC) seniors Isabelle Brennan (at right in top photo) and Grace Reeves have been named this year’s recipients of the Fisher Scholarship, named in honor of long-time MSLC board members and supporters Mark and Sue Fisher.

The two $2,500 scholarships are awarded each year to two on-track-to-graduate MSLC seniors that have overcome significant challenges in their path to graduation. The scholarship funds can be used for post-secondary education needs, vocational training and other job/career-related pursuits, travel abroad programs, and other expenses associated with a college or career path.

Grace is graduating from high school a year early and is also a recipient of the Future Connect Scholarship through the City of Portland and Portland Community College (PCC). She will be attending PCC after graduation to pursue a career as a veterinary technician. Isabelle is one of two valedictorians at Mt. Scott Learning Center this year. She plans on attending a four-year university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a career in law enforcement.

The Mark and Sue Fisher Scholarship Fund honors the Fishers for their generosity, leadership, and encouragement in helping MSLC students discover hope and experience success. A large painting near the entrance to our school commemorates the Fishers’ investment in the MSLC mission and the positive impact it has made in the lives of hundreds of students each year.
