Mt. Scott names Fisher Scholarship recipients
Mt. Scott Learning Center (MSLC) seniors Dani-Rae Gragg and Ryder Brown have been named this year’s recipients of the Fisher Scholarship, named in honor of long-time MSLC board members and supporters Mark and Sue Fisher.
The two $2,500 scholarships are awarded each year to two on-track-to-graduate MSLC seniors that have overcome significant challenges in their path to graduation. The scholarship funds can be used for post-secondary education needs, vocational training and other job/career-related pursuits, travel abroad programs, and other expenses associated with a college or career path.
Dani-Rae plans on attending Mt. Hood Community College to pursue a veterinary technology degree and later transfer to Oregon State University to earn a bachelor’s degree in microbiology. Ryder is an accomplished musician who plans to attend Portland Community College to earn an associate degree in Music and Sonic Arts. The program is for musicians, artists, and designers interested in tools, methods, and mindsets for sonic composition.
The Mark and Sue Fisher Scholarship Fund honors the Fishers for their generosity, leadership, and encouragement in helping MSLC students discover hope and experience success. A large painting near the entrance to our school commemorates the Fishers’ investment in the MSLC mission and the positive impact it has made in the lives of hundreds of students each year.
