Mt. Scott names Fisher Scholarship recipients

Mt. Scott Learning Center (MSLC) seniors Kaliyah Mohr and Jibril El Bellaj have been named the 2025 recipients of the Fisher Scholarship, named in honor of long-time MSLC board members and supporters Mark and Sue Fisher.

The two $2,500 scholarships are awarded each year to two on-track-to-graduate MSLC seniors that have overcome significant challenges in their path to graduation. The scholarship funds can be used for post-secondary education needs, vocational training and other job/career-related pursuits, travel abroad programs, and other expenses associated with a college or career path.

Kaliyah will be attending Western Oregon University this fall to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. She aspires to attend law school after earning her bachelor’s degree. Jibril will attend Portland State University this fall to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Programming with the goal of becoming a software engineer. He would like to complete his engineering degree at Oregon State University.

The Mark and Sue Fisher Scholarship Fund honors the Fishers for their generosity, leadership, and encouragement in helping MSLC students discover hope and experience success. A large painting near the entrance to our school commemorates the Fishers’ investment in the MSLC mission and the positive impact it has had on the lives of hundreds of students each year.
