Congratulations to the Class of 2025!

Mt. Scott Learning Center honored another outstanding group of high school graduates on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Portland State University’s Smith Memorial Student Union Ballroom.

This year’s talented, resilient, and appreciative collection of 39 Mt. Scott seniors received their diplomas at the graduation ceremony, which highlighted the individual and group accomplishments of the Class of 2025. The very personalized and reflective ceremony honored graduates through a variety of audio-visual presentations, speeches, and the traditional pomp and circumstance.

Following a short “What Graduation Means To Me” video, the graduate processional, and opening welcome, the Graduate Spotlights segment spotlighted each individual through photos and a reflection spoken by their advisor. This segment was divided into four sections based on the graduates’ last name: Graduate Spotlights (B-E), Graduate Spotlights (F-L)Graduate Spotlights (M-R), and Graduate Spotlights (S-W).

Louie Humphrey and Mace Skutley were chosen by their fellow graduates to be the ceremony’s student speakers and delivered encouraging, humorous, and emotional speeches to the large crowd. Mt. Scott board member Eldridge Fantroy also presented an inspiring congratulatory speech to all the graduates.

The Graduate Reflections 2025 video was shown featuring many of this year’s graduates. In the video, graduates reflected on their experiences before and after coming to Mt. Scott. The powerful video showcased the uniqueness of the graduates and the Mt. Scott community.

Aaron Balogh, Director of Student Life, and Dara Christy, Director of Academics, presented the diplomas to rousing cheers and camera flashes from proud family members. Graduates then proceeded with the ceremonial flipping of their tassels and tossing of their graduation caps before leaving the auditorium to the song, “Happy.”
