Mt. Scott graduate honored at statewide inventors competition

Mt. Scott Learning Center graduate Marcos Romero Turner – currently a sophomore at Warner Pacific University – received a third place award and $5,000 cash prize at the finals of the InventOR Collegiate Challenge on September 18.

The event convenes student inventors and entrepreneurs from 20 colleges and universities across Oregon that have won preliminary campus competitions. The projects showcase students’ solutions to pressing community needs in Oregon’s urban and rural regions – and beyond.

Marcos and fellow Warner Pacific University student Brandon Medrano-Montes are the co-developers of Better Brain & Body, a shilajit-based protein bar.

Marcos graduated from Mt. Scott in 2019 with a full four-year scholarship to Warner Pacific University an Act Six Scholar. He is majoring in social entrepreneurship and minoring in sales and marketing.

“I’ve gone through a lot in my past and Mt. Scott has helped me overcome many of my challenges,” says Marcos. “No matter what their situation is or struggles are, every student deserves the opportunity to be successful. Mt. Scott has given me that opportunity.”
