Congratulations, Fisher Scholarship winners!
Mt. Scott seniors Violet Evans Mahony (at left in photo) and Lola Acevedo have been named the inaugural recipients of the Fisher Scholarship, named in honor of long-time MSLC board members and supporters Mark and Sue Fisher.
The two $2,500 scholarships are being awarded each year to two on-track-to-graduate MSLC seniors that have overcome significant challenges in their path to graduation. The scholarship funds can be used for post-secondary education needs, vocational training and other job/career-related pursuits, travel abroad programs, and other expenses associated with a college or career path.
After graduating in June, Violet will be attending the International Air and Hospitality Academy in Vancouver, Washington. She will be studying to become a flight attendant but also qualify for a broad range of positions in the travel industry. Lola will be attending the University of Oregon in Eugene and plans to pursue a career in filmmaking or music.
The Mark and Sue Fisher Scholarship Funds honors the Fishers for their generosity, leadership, and encouragement in helping Mt. Scott students discover hope and experience success. A large painting near the entrance to our school commemorates the Fishers’ investment in our mission and the positive impact it has made in the lives of hundreds of students each year.
