Aaron Balogh
In his time with Mt. Scott, Aaron has contributed to the development of a strong and supportive academic environment which values relationships and community building. His educational career began as a Social Studies instructor, where he placed a high value on social justice, global and local citizenship, and critical thinking about ourselves and the world we live in. Since then he has stepped into a leadership and support role as the Dean of Students, providing personal and academic support to students and families.
Working closely with the Mt. Scott leadership and counseling team, Aaron brings the belief that every student has the capacity for success and works on behalf of each individual to inspire and support their growth. His collaborations focus on all aspects of student life, balancing educational, cultural and social development programs and services to help students achieve the fullest benefits of their experience at Mt. Scott. Aaron is dedicated to equity and excellence and promotes a welcoming atmosphere of support, safety and health to the student body. Additionally, he works with community partners to provide exciting classroom and extracurricular activities such as PlayWrite Inc., and the Snowboard Outreach Society, among others.
Prior to his career as an educator, Aaron worked with homeless youth in Portland, which he considers “the greatest city on the planet.” In his free time he loves relaxing with a good book or graphic novel, bicycling, riding motorcycles, snowboarding, and anything related to music.
Aaron holds a Master’s degree in Education and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies.
