Heather joined the Mt. Scott team in August 2020, after relocating to Oregon from Austin, Texas. With 20+ years of nonprofit management and fundraising experience under her belt, Heather is honored to be Mt. Scott’s first Director of Development. She is humbled to be part of an organization that helps young people realize their full potential and looks forward to building a community of support for the school and garner resources for Mt. Scott’s mission.

Heather has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from South Texas College of Law-Houston, but has a work history that includes many jobs in the service industry and office administration, substitute teacher, salmon sorter in Alaska, English teacher in Venezuela, family violence attorney, sex ed instructor, and executive director of a statewide nonprofit. Her passions include advocacy for gender equity, reproductive rights, anti-racism, immigrant rights, and LGBTQ+ rights. Heather finds joy in travel and learning new languages (she speaks Spanish, a little bit of French and Portuguese, and can ask for a rooster in Bolivian Quechua).

Having successfully escaped the Texas heat, she’s looking forward to exploring the Pacific Northwest, spending lots of time being the best auntie possible to her sister’s kids, getting involved in the Portland community, and voting by mail.
