Dara Christy
Dara was initially drawn to the Mt. Scott community because of its focus on supporting students who haven’t reached their full potential in more traditional settings and now looks forward to supporting instructional staff as they guide these amazing young people on their path to success. In her role as Manager of Curriculum and Instruction, Dara oversees the school’s educational program, manages instructional staff and professional development, coordinates with staff and students for the successful completion of graduation requirements and testing, and provides student and family support.
Dara started at Mt. Scott in 2015 as a mathematics instructor and started in the role of Manager of Curriculum and Instruction in 2019. Dara grew up in Wisconsin. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and a Master’s degree in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin Madison, where she focused on issues of equity in education. She has taught mathematics in Newark, NJ and in New York City. In her free time, Dara enjoys spending time with her family, experimenting in the kitchen, and exploring Portland and the Pacific Northwest.
